3x18 - "D.O.C." Flashbacks

1. Jin's mother was a prostitute and later we learn that Jin's father may not even be his real father. This puts a whole new dimension on Jin's daddy issues. That would be crazy if Jin were ever to learn the truth.

2. Sun has been pretending to not know what her father does. Wow, this takes the "Sun is a liar" theme to a whole new level. She borrowed the money to pay off Jin's mother, and Jin doesn't even realize that he has to pay it off himself. And now we know why Jin became a hitman in "...in Translation."

3. Jin was in the army? That explains why he knew how to load a gun in "The Glass Ballerina."

4. Sun knows the truth about Jin's father? Exactly how many facades is she putting up to protect/not hurt Jin?

3x17 - "Catch 22" Present

Wow, I haven't really had to divide my blog amongst two groups of characters in a while. Who should I do first?

Desmond, Charlie, Hurley, and Jin

1. Desmond's flash - Charlie trips one of Rousseau's traps causing a crossbow to fire an arrow at his neck, then things rewind and we see Hurley lifting up the electrical cable, a red light blinking in the night sky, the photograph of Desmond and Penelope, and Charlie, Jin, and Hurley holding the paracheute cloth to catch the mystery woman as she falls, and one final shot of Penelope as the flash ends.

2. Now that I think about it, Jin really seems to be fitting in with the other survivors. Starting from season one and going foward: he was on the raft that he helped build, he assisted Sayid with sailing Desmond's boat, he helped repair the van, and most recently joined this party of four on a trek through the jungle.

3. How did the mystery woman, Naomi (according to TLC) manage to eject and get so far over from the helicopter? Unless I'm mistaken, her helicopter broke apart while it was still over the ocean.

4. Naomi was carrying that photograph of Desmond and Penelope in a portiguese copy of "Catch 22." Does this mean that she's part of that group of people we saw at the end of season 2?

5. This clearly proves that Penelope was indeed searching for the Island with the goal of finding Desmond. How does she know that he could be there? I doubt her father would have told her. Furthermore, does this mean that Charles Widmore sabatoged the "Elizabeth" so the Desmond would wind up on the Island?

6. Where did the helicopter launch from? Is there another outpost close by?

7. What exactly does Widmore know about the Island?

Kate, Jack, Sawyer, Juliet

The love-(insert correct shape analogy here), between these four got interesting here. Kate had sex with Sawyer to try and to forget about Jack and Juliet or make Jack jealous. I'm annoyed at people who critized the writers for throwing in "too much sex." I recall reading an article last summer in which Carlton Cuse said that it was there plan to have some of the characters enter sexual relationships. It only looks like they may be jumping the shark cuz the ratings are lower then last year, but this seems to be all part of the writers' plan.

Parting thoughts: Brian K. Vaughn, welcome to the Lost writing staff.

3x17 - "Catch 22" Flashbacks

1. Desmond was a monk before he met Penny.

2. Campbell mentions the fact that the winery, Moriah Vinyerds took their name from the mountain where Abraham was asked to kill Issac. That ultimately proved to be God testing Abraham's faith, which makes me wonder, would Charlie not die if Desmond were to ignore his flashes?

3. Desmond was engaged before he met Penny? It's not suprising that he left her at the altar and "ran away." Running away is a constant theme in Desmond's flashbacks.

4. What did Campbell believe Desmond's greater destiny to be? It almost sounds like it could be something greater then pushing the button and turning the key doesn't it?

5. Kudos to the Lost Community for this one - there's a photograph of Campbell and Mrs. Hawking (did I get that right) in this episode. I'm going to argue that she does in fact run the jewerly store that Desmond attempted the buy his engagement ring for Penelope. Could she be a relative of Campbell's and therefore share a similar clairevoyance?

6. Charles Widmore sure drinks a lot of wine. Could he be an alcoholic?

3x16 "One Of Us" Present

1. Ah, the beautiful Lost reunions continue. Jack and Sawyer seem legitimately glad to see eachother, and Kate and Sawyer seem to have reconciled (they say abscence makes the heart grow fonder).

2. HOW DID JULIET KNOW ABOUT THE SAWYER KILLING FRANK DUCKETT? I could understand if Sawyer got deported because of that (highly unlikely given that this is murder we're talking here), but he got deported over a barfight. My point is that there is no record of Sawyer ever being arrested for this crime, therefore there is no way the Others could have gotten that information.

3. Even if Juliet's story about the Others actually trying to save Claire's life was true, it still doesn't explain or justify the attempted killing of Charlie. Why didn't anyone ask her about that?

4. What is the symbol marking the tree that was used for Ethan's drop point?

3x16 - "One of Us" Flashbacks

1. Juliet doesn't know where they are either! Just exactly who is Mittelos Bioscience, and why all the secrecy? Could they be a former arch nemesis of Dj Dan ala The Hanso Foundation? It would have been funny to hear Announcer Johnny say "Mittelos Bioscience" in a million different ways.

2. Could the disease Rousseau was referring to be what the Others recruited Juilet to fight against. Is the Island causing all these women to die? What does this mean for Sun? While I'm at it, why did Rousseau survive her pregnancy? Could that be part of their reason for capturing Alex?

3. I'm really scared to raise this next point, but I'm going to say it regardless. Juliet tries to leave after the six month mark, Ben tells her that Rachel's cancer has returned and that he will only cure Rachel if Juliet stays on the island. My question is simple but it's a very scary question to ask, ARE THEY CAPABLE OF GIVING PEOPLE CANCER?

4. What is Ben sending Juliet in to the survivors' camp for? What's going to happen in a week? UPDATE 4/14 - I'm going to guess that Juliet was sent in to complete Ethan's list. Back in "Maternity Leave," Mr. Friendly got on Ethan's case for failing to complete the list, before bringing people in. Could that one week be the deadline for the new list?

5. Mikhail is one hell of a newshound. All the monitors in the Flame were on a news report about a certain missing plane.

6. This just hit me - Ben says to Mikhail, "I want detailed files on every single passenger." THAT'S HOW JACOB CAME UP WITH HIS LIST!

UPDATE 4/16 - I'm going to argue that the Others didn't know the plane was going to crash, nor did they plan for it to happen at all. Watch the opening flashback for "A Tale Of Two Cities." They're holding a book club meeting JUST SECONDS BEFORE DESMOND OFFICIALLY FAILS TO PUSH THE BUTTON! If they really knew and/or planned for the crash, we would have had a scene of them planning out what to do when the plane crashed.

3x15 - "Left Behind" Present

I'M SO SORRY! :( I'M A LAZY IDIOT WHO DIDN'T GET AROUND TO WRITING THIS BLOG UNTIL JUST NOW! I bruse easily so don't throw any tofu of bean curds at me ok? Just comment and tell me that I should get my ass in gear and do this faster.

1. When Locke said that the "Others" were unforgiving, he was probably referring to the fact that Kate killed one of them in "Live Together, Die Alone," and not the murder of her father. They are very strict about killing one of their own after all.

2. Did Juilet see a white light when she got up and close and personal with the monster? Could that mean that she shares a trait in common with Locke?

3. Okay, okay, okay, let me get this straight. Am I to believe that the Others, some of whom have lived on the Island longer then anyone else, HAVE NO FRAKING CLUE WHAT THE MONSTER IS? Once upon a time I thought they were connected to DHARMA, and Hanso because Mr. Friendly quoted one of Alvar Hanso's speeches in "The Hunting Party," and that got chucked out the window for sure in "Enter 77." WHO ARE THESE OTHERS THEN AND WHAT IS THE MONSTER? I WANT TO KNOW!

4. I'm all for the theory that Juilet is attempting to infiltrate the camp. It would make sense to stage her being left behind by the Others. Ethan could not complete his list before he was discovered she could have been sent to finish the job.

3x15 "Left Behind" Flashbacks

1. I don't know who thought that Cassidy was trying to con Sawyer in "Every Man For Himself," but this flashback is proof that she wasn't. For one thing, she was doing a terrible job of lying with the "gold watch con" that Sawyer taught her, making her a terrible confidence gal. Then there's the fact that she confided in Kate that she was pregnant but she still couldn't bring herself to turn in Sawyer.

2. I have to ask the writers of this show one question: HOW MANY TIMES DO YOU HAVE TO PLAY THE "DEGREES OF SEPERATION" GAME WITH US? ALL THE SURVIVORS ARE CONNECTED, WE GET THE POINT! After three years, I have to ask, where are they going with this?

3. Ouch, Kate's mother really did love Wayne. Mr. Austen told her the same thing in "What Kate Did," that's something she still had to hear from her mother.
